Nigeria’s national under-17 women football team will on Sunday face their Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa in their first qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals.
The Nigeria Football Federation in a statement on Thursday in Abuja said the Flamingoes on Thursday left Abuja for Addis Ababa with a contingent which has 18 players.
Sunday’s match will start from 4pm Ethiopia time (2pm Nigeria time).
Nigeria had represented Africa at the finals in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 and now drawn a bye into the second round, while Ethiopia profited from the withdrawal of first round opponents Kenya.
The return leg tie will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on December 16, with the winner on aggregate proceeding to the qualifiers’ final round scheduled for February.
