The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Addis Ababa said Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will visit Ethiopia on November 7 – 9 this year. It is the first time since 1966 that an Official State Visit from Norway to Ethiopia takes place.
The thematic focus for the visit will be Norway and Ethiopia’s cooperation related to health and education, the climate partnership, the situation related to migration and displacement in the region, as well as private sector promotion and development. Norway’s strategic partnership with the African Union will also be on the agenda. Their Royal Highnesses will meet with representatives from the Ethiopian government, civil society, the United Nations, Norwegian organizations and Norwegian businesses.
Their Royal Highnesses will be accompanied by a business delegation, and a High Level Business Forum will take place at Hilton on November 7th. Other programme elements include a High Level Conference on Health, Research and Higher Education, at ALERT Hospital, and a field visit to the refugee camps in Shire in northern Ethiopia.
