REAL MADRID star Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the club’s Super Cup clash against former team Manchester United on August 8, according to reports.
Ronaldo fired Real Madrid to Champions League glory with a brace in their 4-1 win over Juventus on Saturday.
It means the Spanish giants will now play in the European Super Cup for the third time in four years.
Manchester United booked their final place with a 2-0 Europa League final victory over Ajax last month.
Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan struck to ensure Jose Mourinho win a second piece of major silverware in his first season in charge.
Real met Sevilla last year, but United’s involvement could make for a spectacular showdown.
However, Spanish newspaper Marca claim Ronaldo will miss out on the game against his former side.
It is said that Madrid will give the 32-year-old an extended rest in order to ensure he is fully fit and firing next season.
Ronaldo will be part of the Portugal squad participating in the Confederations Cup in Russia later this month and Real will give him a month off after it ends on July 2.
He will also not be part of Real’s pre-season tour of America, unless Portugal go out of the tournament early on.
